THOMPSON’S / NISA DAIRY COW CHAMPIONSHIP 2024
Thompson's / NISA Dairy Cow Championship is being held this year at Antrim Show on Saturday 27th July, 2024. All exhibitors wishing to qualify for the Thompson’s / Northern Ireland Shows Association Dairy Cow Championship must enter the name of their animal(s) and Exhibitor details in their respective classes at the qualifying show. Only 1st and 2nd placed exhibits in all Dairy Cow classes at Omagh Show are eligible to go forward to the Thompson's Dairy Cow Qualifier.The qualifiers for the Championship will be the first and second prize winners in the Thompson’s/NISA class.
To maximise attendance of qualifiers at the Championships, Stewards will enquire from the qualifying exhibitors if it is their intention to be present at Antrim Show on Saturday, 27nd July, 2024 for the Championshiip.
In the event of qualified exhibitors not wishing to attend the Championship, then the Judge will be asked to identify further qualifying animals.
Qualifying exhibitors who do not appear at the Championships may be disqualified from competing in Championships organised by NISA in 2025, unless good reason is given for such non-appearance.
No exhibitor may qualify more than four exhibits for the Championship, two to qualify at each qualifying show. Animals cannot qualify for the Championship in dairy classes at Antrim Show.
THOMPSON’S will present special rosettes to the exhibitors of both qualifying animals at each qualifying show. Each animal forward at the Championship, which does not gain 1st to 6th place, will be paid attendance money in the form of a £50 Feed Voucher.
Animals placed 1st to 6th in the Championship will receive Prize Money as follows:
Champion £500 plus sash.
Reserve Champion £300
2nd Reserve Champion £200.
4th Place £150
5th Place £100
6th Place £50
In addition, £100 plus Sash will be awarded to the highest placed Exhibitor-bred animal at the Championship (born on farm, not purchased embryo), and the exhibit with the Best Udder will also receive £100 plus sash.
The THOMPSON’S Perpetual Shield will be presented to the Champion.
The Qualifying Shows are: Ballymoney, Lurgan, Armagh, Saintfield, Ballymena, Newry, Omagh, Castlewellan, and Co. Londonderry

BARCLAYS / NISA DAIRY YOUNG HANDLERS’ CHAMPIONSHIPS 2023
Dairy Young Handler – age 8 – 14
Dairy Young Handler – age 15 – 18
Age as at 1st May in current year.
Animals to be 12 months or under on 1st May, in current year.
All exhibitors wishing to qualify for the Barclays / Northern Ireland Shows Association Young Handler Final must enter the name / breed of their animal(s) with the Qualifying Show, together with exhibitor details, including date of birth, contact details and parent/guardian details.
The Qualifiers for the final at Fermanagh County Show on Saturday, 12th August, 2023, will be the first and second prize winners in the respective XXXXX / NISA Section / age / class, at each qualifying show.
Parents/Guardians are requested to ensure that exhibitors are practised and capable of handling the animal. One adult is welcome to enter the ring to ensure safety.
In these classes the appearance and skill of the exhibitor will be considered.
Rosettes will be awarded to each Qualified Young Handler. Championship & Reserve Championship sashes will be awarded at the final.

Prize Money at Championship, in each of the four sections:
First place £60.
Second place £40
Third place £30

The Qualifying Shows are: Ballymoney, Lurgan, Armagh, Saintfield, Ballymena, Newry, Castlewellan, Co Londonderry, Omagh, Antrim and Clogher Valley.
