MONAGHAN STUDENT WINS TYRONE FARMING SOCIETY’S BURSARY AT GREENMOUNT

Andrew Clarke, from Monaghan, recently received a £1,000 bursary from Tyrone Farming Society at the Greenmount Campus of the College of Agriculture Food and Rural Enterprise (CAFRE).
Andrew, a former pupil of Monaghan Collegiate School, has just commenced the Higher National Diploma in Agriculture.
Andrew was delighted to receive the support from Tyrone Farming Society. He said, “The cost of studying has been rising, grants are no longer available and more recently, tuition fees have been introduced. This bursary is a great boost at the start of my higher education and it is very encouraging that industry is willing to invest in young people embarking on a career in agriculture. This award will allow me to fully participate in all the opportunities on offer at Greenmount.”
At the presentation ceremony, Bertie Pollock, MBE, Chairman of Tyrone Farming Society congratulated Andrew on his thought-provoking report and said, “By supporting a student at Greenmount, our Society is making a small but important contribution to ensuring the continued supply of professional managers to the industry. Young people will play a key role in the future of the industry and we are delighted to be able to help them.”
